Abundance and its Spiritual Meanings

Abundance and its Spiritual Meanings

We hear the word abundance so often in our lives that it is almost a daily term. While the meaning of the word is often to convey things in large quantities, such as money, space, or other material items, there is a deeper, spiritual meaning, too. The spiritual meaning is not about material possessions. There are emotional, mental, and spiritual elements to abundance that are often as important (if not more).

However, it can be challenging to comprehend the meaning of abundance, especially in the spiritual sense. That is why, in this post, we will look through what abundance means, if you can create spiritual abundance for yourself, and what it means if you receive these messages in dreams or meditation.

Etymology

The word abundance started as the Latin word abundantia, meaning fullness or plenty. The word then changed to the Old French word abondance in the mid-14th century and then into the English word abundance.

The Meaning of Abundance in Spirituality

Abundance in spirituality is a feeling, a sense, and knowing that you have enough to fulfill your life, not about the material “plenty.”

Many people worldwide have more than 99% of the global population. Yet some of them are still not living abundant lives.

Be content with what you have, rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you. — Lao Tzu

Many people have an urge for more. Similar to that itch that you cannot scratch. A new car will make you happy, a new home, or more money.

However, a little like those itches, you are trying to use outside influence to make you feel abundant. The problem is they will not scratch the itch away. They may make you feel better for a short time, but the itch will come back.

While the physiology of the itches you cannot scratch is not like this, think of it this way:

The itch you cannot scratch is internal; you need to scratch it from the inside, not with material or outward items.

If you have ever longed for that new TV, thinking it will make you happy, you have probably found that you move on to something different very quickly,

Abundance is a perception that comes from within, living a life of joy, peace, and fulfillment in all aspects. It is a state of being, feeling complete with everything you have, without the constant need for more. It is not about having more but about appreciating what you already have. Positive energy and gratitude for what you have will attract more positivity and abundance while keeping away negative energy.

It is not easy, even though some people say it is.

Hard times fall upon everyone. You need to take the time to look around and see what you have, even if it is just the phone or computer you are reading this on.

Appreciate the abundance already present in your life. Feel it, and try to connect with people more.

Visions of Abundance in Dreams and Meditation

Spiritual abundance is not just in the waking world; many people see visions in their dreams and during meditation. But what are they, and what do they mean?

Of course, abundance is not a “single thing.” There is no symbol for abundance. However, there are things that can represent the meaning in both dreams and meditation. For example:

  • Gold and jewels
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • A flowing river or waterfall
  • A large, beautiful house or palace
  • A garden or orchard in full bloom
  • A bountiful harvest
  • An overflowing treasure chest
  • A bright sun or radiant light
  • A rainbow
  • A full moon or stars in the sky
  • Being surrounded by a golden light
  • Surrounded by family and friends

Many other things can represent abundance in dreams and meditation. However, you have to trust in your intuition for what the symbols might be.
